Platte County Health Department is serving the community under one roof.
This project was a major upgrade for the health department serving the Platte County community. Initially, they were located in 2 separate facilities and it was imperative to centralize their operations. 3F30 aided in the site selection process by touring green sites and pre-existing buildings. The health department acquired a facility that was a Montessori school. Located off the I-29 corridor. the 3-wing building configuration provided a good base to layout the various departments within the health department. The building has excellent access to plumbing lines, ample access to the exterior, and plenty of natural lighting. Charrettes were conducted with staff to ensure that programming the space suited their needs and allowed for future expansion.
An addition and expanded parking lot were constructed on the east side of the existing building. The structure is a 3-bay garage that serves as storage for their mobile unit, but to also serve as a vaccination drive-thru operation with 2 bays allowing clients to pull thru the structure. Another addition is located on the west side of the south wing. This is a dual function space as it provides ample space for public restrooms, but also storm sheltering as this was an issue item during the charrette process that needed to be addressed. The property has ample room to allow for future additions. Since its opening, the feedback has been positive for those utilizing the space and services.
