Reach Church – Raytown procured a massive church facility. The facility saw decades of expansion which can be divided by functional use. The sanctuary and fellowship functions are on the east with administrative, classroom, and chapel on the west. Transition from one to the other is via a connector portion of the facility. Furthermore, the latest addition is a classroom wing to the south. Although the facility is mostly 2 stories, the sanctuary includes mezzanine and support levels above.
Notably, fellowship is a key aspect for Reach. As a result, the renovations emphasize their communal needs. Both the chapel and gathering spaces received spatial expansion removing defunct rooms. Additionally, finishes, exposed ceilings, and lighting suit Reach’s aesthetic. In like manner, the connector portion received similar work. Circulation from east to west is improved. As a bonus, church members can socialize and enjoy a cup of coffee before heading to class or service.
Above all, the east portion of the facility saw the most change. The existing sanctuary mezzanine was removed exposing the vaulted wood ceiling to the lobby. Consequently, a new wall was built in between the lobby and sanctuary. Beyond the new wall, the sanctuary received a new sound booth. Below, the fellowship hall on the lower level received the same type of renovation as the west side of the facility. Currently, Reach has check-in station procedures for kids going to Sunday School. In conjunction with egress issues from fellowship hall, a new stairwell was constructed on the NE corner with exterior access. Ultimately, the stairwell will be a hub for families arriving to check-in and split with kids going downstairs and adult members going upstairs. On the whole, the renovation has been a benefit to Reach Church – Raytown.
