Rice Gallery of Fine Art is located within the new Shopping Center of Park Place in Leawood, KS on Ash Street. The Gallery is locally owned and presents original works by local artists. The total square footage is 2,200 and the gallery portion of that is around 1500. The layout maximizes vertical display space while maintaining horizontal viewing distances. The owner requested storage area wherever it could be found so areas above, below, and up the wall are integrated into the spaces. Because the employee/artists are here for long periods of time a small break area was included. Construction on the project began in May 2008.
Since then, The Rice Gallery of Fine Art relocated to Overland Park. The new location’s aesthetics and layout are akin to the Leawood location.
