Xpress Mart – State Avenue construction is wrapping up. Set to open in 2025, this location’s planning process was complex. The acquired site adopted decade old planning approvals including coordination with the subdivision to the south. The property to the south, although owned by Xpress Mart, had concepts of a communal park. Also, the project incorporated City requests that developed over the entire planning process. These include extension of the east sidewalk to the subdivision and a new bus stop along State Avenue.
The property is considerable in size. However, natural obstacles occur. A creek bed is on the west and the property drops steeply on the south. The overall shape is trapezoidal with the building on the south end with the lot flaring towards the north. A retention area for run off is located on the south as well as a retaining wall and fence system. This retaining wall and fence system was a screening add to satisfy the subdivision’s requests.
The building itself is a nod to the Leavenworth Road location, minus the tenant spaces. The exterior has the same branding appearance. However, this location will incorporate a landscape bed along the front per City’s requirements. Another change, albeit minor, is an update to a few interior finishes. The tones are more neutral and highlight the rich millwork finishes. Nonetheless, Xpress Mart – State Avenue continues to provide consumers with an expansive fare, fueling, and service.
